Just Because: Watchmaker Roger Smith Receives OBE In The 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours List
This week the yearly rundown of the Queen’s Birthday Honors was distributed in the United Kingdom and we recognized a natural name. Mr. Roger W. Smith, perhaps the best watchmaker on planet Earth (and quite a decent person, in the event that I may say so myself) has been made an OBE or Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The chivalric title is perhaps the most noteworthy honor that can be presented to a British non military personnel and it denotes a public commitment to society outside of the common help, which can remember commitments for expressions of the human experience, sciences, sports, or other fields.
Later this year Roger will have the chance to go to a service at either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle for an inauguration function, during which he will get his authority medal. We’ll be restlessly anticipating refreshes on his Instagram account .
For a watchmaker to get an honor like this is an uncommonly uncommon thing and not something to be trifled with. Roger’s guide George Daniels was granted the CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) back in 2010, yet supposedly Roger is presently the lone living watchmaker to be an OBE for his commitments to watchmaking. Our congrats go out to Roger on this acknowledgment of his achievements!
